From Pyramids to Playdates: VBS was a Resounding Success!

During the week of June 23-26, The Church of the Good Shepherd was abuzz with the sounds of laughter, learning, and ancient Egyptian adventures! Over 25 children and a dedicated team of adult volunteers embarked on an incredible journey during Vacation Bible School, transporting participants to the land of the pharaohs to explore the inspiring story of Joseph.

The week kicked off with an immediate dive into Egyptian culture. Kids "traveled to Egypt" and met Joseph, famous for his many-colored coat and gift of interpreting dreams. Early highlights included lively mummy games, the fascinating challenge of spelling names in hieroglyphics, and enthusiastic sing-alongs to Bible songs led by Kirsten and Justin.

As the days progressed, the adventure continued. On day two, the children followed Joseph's journey, meeting him in the palace and hearing about his incredible dreams. Artistic young minds were put to work painting sarcophaguses, and everyone enjoyed some refreshing water sponge games. Day three saw more creative endeavors with basket weaving and continued sarcophagus painting. The final day, today, concluded with children crafting their own Egyptian collars at the "jewelry store" and a celebratory pizza lunch.

It was truly a fun and enriching week, as participants learned about Joseph's remarkable journey from prison to palace. A central theme throughout the week was Joseph's incredible journey of learning forgiveness, particularly how he extended grace to his eleven brothers who had initially thrown him into a well, setting off his challenging path. The story beautifully illustrated how God provides us with light and hope in all circumstances, even when faced with betrayal and hardship. Children also gained fascinating insights into ancient Egypt.

A Heartfelt Thank You!

The success of this year's Vacation Bible School would not have been possible without the incredible dedication and hard work of our many volunteers. From guiding activities to lending a helping hand wherever needed, your commitment made this special week at the church a truly memorable and impactful experience for all the children. The Church of the Good Shepherd extends its deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your time, energy, and prayers. Thank you for making VBS 2025 a pharaoh-nomenal success!
