Fellowship & Parish Life

For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.
Romans 12:4-5
Here's just a small sampling of us getting the word out on
some of the year's fellowship highlights.

When it's time to relax and enjoy one another's company, Good Shepherd has a reputation for having many opportunities for informal, fun times together.  What better way for adults, children and families to gather, interact, and build long-lasting relationships!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - Members of EYC, our youth group, serve pancakes as a fundraiser at this very popular event.

Wednesday Night Lenten Programs - The Church of the Good Shepherd's traditional Wednesday Evening Programs takes place each Wednesday evening in Shepherd's Hall during Lent. Programs have ranged from discussion of moral implications of major events to concerts.

Pig Pickin' - The parish  Mike Beard Memorial Pig Pickin' is held annually in the spring. Members look forward to this event which always has a large attendance.

Sunday School Kickoff Event - The Sunday School Kickoff event takes place in September immediately after the worship service. It is always a great afternoon of fellowship as members share a meal of hot dogs and hamburgers and plenty of potluck side dishes.  We even have a bouncy house INSIDE the Parish Life Center!

Oyster & Shrimp Roast - The Jim Propst Memorial Oyster & Shrimp Roast takes place in November. For those who don't enjoy seafood, there is plenty of chili to go around.

Christmas Pageant and All-Parish Christmas Party - Our children present a Christmas Pageant each December to the delight of the parish. With a range in ages from 3-year olds as sheep all the way up to high school age narrators, the young people give a unique perspective on the wonders of the birth of Jesus.  A potluck dinner filled with food and Christmas carols follows the performance.

SUPPER CLUBS

Good Shepherd has a strong tradition of supper clubs that typically meet monthly in members' homes. These informal gatherings consist of a potluck meal and lots of fellowship. While some of the groups may be targeted to different age ranges, all are welcome at any event. We have many parishioners who enjoying 'roaming' among the different groups to get a full experience of the diversity of our parish.

Amazing Grace -  Typically meets monthly in individual's homes for a covered dish supper. The group is composed of singles and couples. Ages range from the 30's to  70's. Contact Van Giersch at 919-781-2889.

Out & About - Supper club for the parish LGBT community and friends. No age limits. Meets  monthly in a member's home. Contact Paul Henry at 954-448-8931.
