Advent at CGS
Please check back here for updates as we move through the season.
Advent Lessons & Carols Please join us on the Second Sunday of Advent, December 4th at 10:15am for the CGS Advent Lessons & Carols Worship service. This Worship service will also be livestreamed on our YouTube Channel. Cookie Plates for Parishioners During Advent, we will be making cookie plates to deliver to those in our parish who are ill or shut in. In past years, many CGS members helped by contributing varieties of cookies so that we can make up the trays. We’d love your help again this year, as we reinstate this tradition after an interruption last year because of the pandemic. How to participate? If you could provide 3-4 dozen cookies of one variety that would be so greatly appreciated! Please make the cookies smaller in size so that they can be arranged on the plate. Please contact Lynn Wiss with the variety you wish to donate. Please bring your contributions to the CGS Parish Life Center between Tuesday, December 7th and Thursday, December 9th. St. Nicholas Tree This project enables parishioners to shop for and give Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children. The tree is in the PLC foyer holding stars inscribed with children's Christmas wishes. Stars are currently available for selection. How to participate? Please take a star and sign the log sheet to indicate which star you selected. Please wrap the gifts and attach the child's star to the gift. If there are multiple presents for one child/star, please place the wrapped presents in a large bag to keep them together. Please return to the church by Sunday, December 12th. Reading of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens Please join us for a live reading of Charles Dickens’s 1843 famous ghost story, “A Christmas Carol.” How to participate? Please feel free to drop in to for any or all of the installments. We'll meet in the first floor Ennis Parlor from 9:00am-10:00am on the following Sundays in December: 5th, 12th, and 19th. Please wear your mask for these readings. Any questions, please contact Paul Fyfe. |
CGS Compassion Project This is a project seeking to connect us to each other in Christ. Beginning on Sunday, November 28th, families are invited to take one heart painting home per household, and interact with the heart as they are called to: journal with it, write names on it, decorate it, and then to bring it back on Easter Sunday. How to participate? Heart paintings can be selected on Sundays or Monday - Thursday, 9:00a.m. through 5:00p.m. Please sign the notebook to let us know you are participating. Watch for newsletter updates in coming months. For parishioners who are at home, we can bring you a heart painting. Please reach out to Adam Ridge to coordinate, details are in the parish newsletter. Advent Wreath Project Please join us on the First Sunday of Advent, Sunday, November 28th, to create Advent Wreaths which you can take home and enjoy during the season! Parishioners will meet after the 10:15am worship service in the circle drive outside the church. All materials will be provided! Refreshments & Fundraising While you are creating your Advent Wreath, please consider purchasing refreshments which will be available from the CGS EYC and RMC Youth groups! Your purchase will help support the efforts and ministries of our youth. Poinsettias For CGS Thank you to those who purchased poinsettias to decorate our beautiful Sanctuary for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services with red poinsettias, and support our CGS Outreach programs. For those who would like to take their poinsettias home, please pick up your poinsettias after the 10:00am Christmas Day service. |
