Will My Pledge Make a Difference?
Our Mission Trip to Mexico through Habitat for Humanity was a life changing trip for those who participated. Some people may think their pledge won't make a difference because they just can't give "enough." But that is not true. Every pledge is important.
Think about it. If your family puts five dollars in the alms basin every Sunday, you are already giving over $250 a year.
While all gifts are welcomed and appreciated, if your family pledged $250 for the year, the church could depend on those funds and plan accordingly.
What could the church do with just $250?
You'd be amazed: that amount would buy supplies for the Nursery for a year. Or it would allow the Community Outreach Fund to assist FIVE families.
What would it take to double that pledge to $500 a year? That may seem like a stretch to some people, but think of it this way: if your family gave up one fast food dinner a month or you gave up two Starbucks drinks a week for a year, that would be $250 or more. That $500 pledge would about pay for the annual Sunday School curriculum for one children's class.
So please don't think that your pledge doesn't matter, because it does.
Gracious God, giver of all we have and hold as stewards: grant the people of this church a deep and abiding awareness that all things come from you—our health, our incomes, our jobs, our talents, and our generous impulses. Send your Holy Spirit to remind us that you have asked for part of what we are given, to be returned to you as a symbol that you give all we have. And further, help us to help each other in this grace of giving, for you are the lover of our souls and call us to nothing less than transformation in Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
