Wake County Habitat for Humanity
In February of this year, The Church of the Good Shepherd helped three needy families in Mexico realize their dreams of home ownership through Habitat for Humanity International. Now we have the opportunity to do the same in our own community. Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is offering CGS the chance to participate in the “Apostles Build” program. This initiative brings 12 or more churches together to help build a new home for a deserving family. This collaborative approach provides an opportunity for fellowship with other Christians and also reduces the sponsorship rate for each participating congregation.
This fall, The Church of the Good Shepherd will co-sponsor the construction of a new home for a deserving family. The groundbreaking ceremony will be September 20th at 9:00am. Anyone who is interested in participation is invited. The dates that CGS will build are still being determined, but there will be 4 opportunities to volunteer, all on Saturdays. A full-day commitment is preferred, but we may also be able to do half-day (morning or afternoon) assignments if necessary to fill the slots. We will need up to 10 workers each day for building, painting, finishing, or whatever construction skills are required for that day. We will also need to provide food (breakfast and lunch) to the workers. For legal and safety reasons, the minimum age for participation is 16. If you are interested, please contact James Deal at or at 847-0589 and specify what type of work you are interested in doing.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Many thanks, James Deal
