The Rector's Ramblings...May 24

Red Carpet NightRed Carpet NightOne of the great blessings I have had as your Rector is the opportunity for the last thirteen years of watching many outstanding children go through our children’s and youth ministry programs.  The experience they have had in both of these programs and the love that has been bestowed upon them by their parents has enabled them to grow and mature into young adults who will one day be leaders in our church and in the world.  The more I am around our children, the better I feel about the future.

Last evening I had the privilege of attending the EYC “Red Carpet Night” where those who were graduating from high school were honored by their families and their peers.  Each of them received a gift bag from Donna Gundrum that contained some necessary items for them in the days ahead.  They also received a copy of a video, once again wonderfully put together by Patti Lamb.  This video, put to music, contained pictures of each of our graduates from birth to today.  It also showed all of us how much our children had been a part of the life of our parish and its activities. There was laughter and even some tears as we all watched with a sense of pride welling up in us for our newest group of graduates.

I ask each of you to join with me in offering special prayers for James Ian Bush, Christin Birchard, Samuel Alexander Cawthorn, Ethan Andrew Johnson, and James Edward Morrison, III who now move toward the college years and lead to the threshold of adulthood and a future filled with hope and promise.
