Stewardship
Stewardship teaches that all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. We are, therefore, stewards of God's gifts during our lifetime. Discerning and carrying out God's purpose is the primary purpose of our lives. The gifts we have been given, time, talent, and money, are to be used for that purpose.
Christian stewardship is grateful and responsible use of God's gifts in the light of God's purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions.
Both for the individual and for the community, stewardship is a joyful act for the sake of God's world.
How can I support Good Shepherd?
Every member of Good Shepherd can provide valuable support to the parish.
Time and Talent. Within the life of Good Shepherd, there are many opportunities for members to contribute their time and talent. You might work with children, or the elderly. You might take a leadership role in the parish. You might take part in worship, as an acolyte, lay reader or lay Eucharistic minister. You might sing in the choir, or help maintain the facilities. You might even think of something that we're not doing today, and start a new program. The opportunities are endless. Please consider completing a Time & Talent Survey so we can better understand your areas of interest.
Financial Support. Good Shepherd also needs your financial support. Our Parish depends on the voluntary offerings of its membership to maintain the facilities, cool and heat the buildings, pay the staff and carry out the programs of the parish. Your contribution, large or small, helps keep the parish going. Members of the parish offer financial contributions in different ways. Some members give once a year; most give weekly or monthly. Some members mail in their offerings; most add them to the plate on Sunday morning by using the weekly offering envelopes.
