Children's Ministries
"Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.' And he laid his hands on them and went on his way." Matthew 19:13-15
Here at CGS, we have a vibrant Children's ministry that is ever-growing as we prayerfully seek to teach our children how to follow after Christ. Children's Sunday School
Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am. Infants meet and 2's meet on either side of the nursery, located on the first floor while the 3 year olds through fifth graders meet on the second floor of the Parish Life Center.
Children's Chapel
Our Children's Chapel "Godly Play" program, open to children age 4-7, takes place on Sunday mornings during the 10:30 am worship service. Children are invited to gather after the collect and follow the cross together to the Children's Chapel and return after the Prayers of the People.
Godly Play invites children to wonder about stories of faith and the people of God through creative storytelling. The Chldren's Chapel utilizes two adult volunteers each week, one to be the greeter and the other the storyteller. To learn how to become more involved in this ministry, or to sign up to help with Children's Chapel or serve on the Godly Play Ministry Team, email Michelle Bullock.
Angel Choir: Children in first through fifth grade are welcome to participate in this choir. This choir rehearses on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. and sings approximately once a month at the 10:30 a.m. worship service, Lessons and Carols, and the Christmas Pageant.
Christmas Pageant
Each year, the children participate in a wonderful children's Christmas pageant, complete with baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the inn keeper,wise men, sheep, shepherds, cows, angels, and many more. This year, the Christmas play will take place at 4pm on December 11. Please come join us as we prepare to more fully worship Christ during the coming Christmas day as we hear and see the story of Christ's birth.
Splash Dinners
Splash dinners are a time of dinner and fellowship for children and families Good Shepherd families with children under the age of three are invited to attend quarterly Sunday dinners together in Shepherd's hall. The "program" for the evening is simply to meet other families your age who are preparing to raise their children here at the feet of the Good Shepherd. These children will grow and learn about the life of faith together and will attend Sunday school, special events, acolyte and one day attend EYC together. These are the families you will share a significant part of your life with over many, many years. The meal is provided at no cost to you, but a collection basket will be available for cash donations to offset the cost of the meal. Children's are invited to run around Shepherd's Hall, which we transform into a mini-playground, full of toys and fun!
VBS
Every year, we have a Vacation Bible School program for children ages 2years old to 5th grade. Each year we explore a new theme and Bible story. Come join us as we learn and have fun together!
