Bishop's Ball and Pageant
Wed, 12/21/2011 - 5:56pm — mbullock
What a wonderful time Advent 3 weekend was for many in our church! Hunter Sharp, Jordan Blalock and I traveled to Denton, NC for Bishop's Ball and had a great time. It seemed like Denton was in the middle of nowhere, but Camp Walter Johnson was very nice and Bishop's Ball was worth the drive. During his Eucharist homily, Bishop Curry encouraged us to let the light God has given each of shine. We do so by loving God and loving our neighbor. He encouraged us to think of the light of God shining brightly in us in each of the four corners of the world as we light each of the four Advent candles. What a great message! Apart from the time spent learning, there was lots of playing, singing, eating, a huge football game and the dance on Saturday night. Hunter and Jordan tore up the dance floor while I stood in the awkward adult corner, wishing I didn't have two left feet. This weekend was also the annual Christmas pageant, which was a time of great joy. I'm so thankful to the many youth who participated- you were a huge part of the pageant! To Ainsley, Erin, Olivia, James, Will and Madison (who saved the day by stepping in as Elizabeth on Saturday)-thank you!!!!
Peace to you,
Michelle

Join the parish in reading through the Bible in a year
Fri, 09/16/2011 - 2:37pm — mbullockAs an important part of our parish, EYC has been invited to take up the challenge to read through the Bible in a year. Please take up the challenge with us! The challenge began on Thursday, September 15, but can be taken up at any time. If you miss a day or two or lag behind, it is ok! If something is too hard to get through, skim it or move on to the next chapter or book. Our first goal is to read through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and Acts by the first Sunday in Advent (November 27). As you go about reading, think in terms of about half a book per week.
I hope you will join us as we learn, discuss, wonder and grow together through reading God's word.
Peace to you all,
Michelle
