Isaiah's Cry of Hope and Joy Fulfilled
Tue, 01/03/2012 - 4:11pm — bbennett"To us a child is born, to us a son is given." - Isaiah 9:6
"Let us rejoice about this once again at the beginning of this year. In this cry Isaiah lifted up the hope of Israel and ensured for all time the importance of God's people who are called Israel. It became the basis for the Prophet's hope for a glorious age of God. For this Son who is born is no longer subject to the troubles of the times. In Him His generation, His nation and all humanity have someone who stands above the ages and goes through the ages saving what would, without such a person, be lost. It is a Son who is called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." In other words, this is the one in whom God the Almighty steps into the world of humanity to take up that cause for which he created humanity." -Christoph Blumbardt, 19th c. German pastor

National Cathedral NativityAlmighty and everliving God, you have given us a new revelation of your loving providence in the Coming of your Son Jesus Christ to be born of the Virgin Mary: Grant that as he shared our mortality, so we may share his eternity in the glory of your kingdom; where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. - THE BOOK OF OCCASIONAL SERVICES, The Episcopal Church.
