Evening Meditation & Prayer in June
It's our same warm and inviting Sunday afternoon serivce, just with a more reflective name. You are invited to come participate in our next service at 5pm in the Church on Sunday, June 13th. The beauty of this service -- which begins with a dimmed, quiet, and reflective sanctuary that gradually becomes infused with the soft light of candle after candle flaring to life -- makes for a very special worship experience. This service is also a wonderful opportunity to get settled and centered as you get ready for another week--it is what is often spoken of as "contemplative" experience of worship. Dress is casual. Then...join us for a wine and cheese reception in the Duncan-Giersch Center following the service.
Evensong--5:00PM, 2nd & 4th Sundays each month

Interested in a Preschool at Good Shepherd?
Interested in a Preschool at Good Shepherd? Please fill out this On-Line Survey!
We are considering establishiing a preschool at Good Shepherd for children under the age of 5 starting in the fall of 2011. An academic preschool, its goal would be to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. Utilizing the wonderful facilities of the Duncan-Giersch Center, we feel this school could be unparalleled in downtown Raleigh.
We want to gauge the congregation's interest in a preschool. Please take a moment to take the on-line survey. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have young children!

You're Invited to an Evening with Father Joseph Lasuba
What might it mean to follow Jesus in a nation that has not known peace for decades, that has endured devastating genocide and religious persecution, and yet remains home to the most rapidly growing church in the Anglican Communion? Father Joseph Taban Lasuba of All Saints Cathedral in Karthoum will visit Shepherd's Hall on Sunday, May 30th to share a glimpse of the faith and hope growing in his home country. Parishioners of all ages are invited to gather at 7pm to welcome him. We will share dessert and coffee, then listen to Joseph's witness to the Spirit's work in his nation. Largely Muslim, Sudan is the largest country in Africa (- about the same size as continental Europe!), and the Episcopal Church of the Sudan stands as one of the most effective players in the nation's peace process. Through prayer, worship, and service, The Episcopal Church of the Sudan, "is building bridges between tribes and communities, speaking truth to the confused, offering hope to the despairing, and creating a sense of belonging for a marginalized people"(see http://www.ecspartners.org/about_ecs.html). It is our tremendous privilege to spend an evening with Father Joseph as he prepares to return to ministry in Karthoum. Contact Wren Blessing (831.2014 or wren.blessing@cgs-raleigh.org) for more information.

EYC Hosts "An Evening with Fr. Joseph Lasuba" - All Are Welcome
EYC invites you and your family to enjoy dessert and coffee at "An Evening with Fr. Joseph Lasuba," on Sunday May 30th, at 7pm in Shepherd's Hall. Father Joseph serves as a priest in the Episcopal Church of the Sudan, a church that witnesses powerfully to the truth that nothing (not war, hunger, terrorism, suffering, or disease) can separate us from the love of God in Christ. Joseph will share some of the remarkable initiatives in which he has involved Christian youth of the Sudan, and he will tell about how the Episcopal Church of the Sudan has grown rapidly during two decades of persecution. Joseph will soon return to All Saints Cathedral in Khartoum, and we are thrilled that he is taking time to visit us. There is no cost to attend this event, but we welcome donations of baked goods to serve during the reception. Plan to learn about how your family can pray for and support Father Joseph's continued ministry. Please RSVP to Wren Blessing (wren.blessing@cgs-raleigh.org) by May 23rd.
